چکیده

Abstract Electrical propulsion has been identified as one of the key fields future research within aerospace sector. The Institute Aeronautical Engineering at Universität der Bundeswehr München aims to contribute ongoing development small-sized electrical ducted fan engines with a thrust in range 100 N. A special emphasis is placed on electrically powered contra-rotating stages. When compared conventional rotor–stator stage, stages allow for more compact design, considering given pressure ratio, or an increased ratio constant diameter. Since numerous new aircraft concepts are presently being developed, high demand and powerful driven arises. Electrically provide potential terms compactness, emissions efficiency. Using electric motors offers ability overcome common issues, such design integration stage into gas turbine. An innovative engine featuring developed tested Institute’s test benches propulsion. Key components two brushless powering each rotor. Various operation points investigated experimentally during extensive campaign. Experimental results numerical simulations computed by ANSYS CFX. Results indicate good agreement between experiment simulation. running very smooth throughout all points. Yet, intensive heating up high-temperature zone found be issue higher rotation speeds.

Noise Source Identification for Ducted Fan Systems

Understanding combustion noise source mechanisms, designing efficient acoustic liners and optimising active control algorithms for noise reduction requires the identification of the frequency and modal content of the combustion noise contribution. Coherence-based noise source identification techniques have been developed which can be used to identify the contribution of combustion noise to near...

Harmonic and Broadband Separation of Noise from a Small Ducted Fan

In the study of noise from propellers and ducted fans, rigorous signal decomposition into harmonic and broadband components is essential for the development of high-fidelity predictive models. Current spectral methods and phase averaging techniques lack the temporal resolution to compensate for fluctuations in operating condition intrinsic to real world experiments. In this paper we use a Vold-...

Active Sway Control of a Gantry Crane by an Electrical Ducted Fan

Sway reduction is very vital in a nonlinear oscillatory system such as a gantry crane. In this paper, a new design is proposed for active sway control of a gantry crane using an electrical ducted fan. The thrust force developed by the motor is used to cancel out payload oscillation. A dynamic model of the crane with a ducted fan is derived and simulated using Matlab. Performance of the proposed...

Small Buoys for Energy Harvesting : Experimental and Numerical Modeling Studies

We present the development and application of small buoy systems for wave energy harvesting (free-floating or slackly moored), to produce about 1 KW per unit at full scale. These systems are targeted for powering distributed marine surveillance and instrumentation networks, and should be simple in concept, easily deployable, storm resilient, and low maintenance. Our work involved design, experi...
